Following in the footsteps of the original project, we're gathering again to create a new chapter in Penstone's textile history. Just as before, no exceptional sewing skills are required - only enthusiasm and a love for our village.
The 2025 patchwork will mirror its predecessor's format, with the river marking our boundaries. But this time, we're particularly keen to document the environmental changes we've witnessed over 25 years. Our borders will once again catalogue local wildlife, creating a fascinating comparison with the 2000 record.
Weekly evening gatherings echo those of the original project, combining needlework with neighbourly chatter. Those unable to attend can still contribute by creating squares at home, ensuring the whole community can participate.
We are looking to once again create a commemorative book, and we're exploring the possibility of creating a film to document the process. Through these media, we'll preserve not just the finished patchwork, but the journey of its creation for future generations.
